Mission Possible!
You may have noticed that that the barcode reading laser on the kiosks is pretty much always ready to pounce and read a barcode... any barcode. Cards! Books! DVDs! Many customers seem to want to carefully place their items one at a time under said beam, which emits a satisfying 'beep' when the barcode is read. To encourage them to get more into the free & easy "just dump it anywhere on the pad" vibe of the RFID kiosks, we needed a solution.
The Mission: Terminate the beam - we only want it on when a card is waved under it.
The Operatives: Kate and Louise (intelligence gathered from our allies at Mitcham)
The Outcome: Mission successfully completed at 1030 hours today at Unley. Mission to be repeated at Goodwood Library dateline Wednesday March 8.

Seriously is there any blog post that you CAN'T apply a Dr Evil meme to? Legendary!
ReplyDeleteOperative Kate can report in that the lack of "laser" (I hope you heard that in a Dr Evil voice)@ Unley is a success - have been able to let numerous laser-loving folk know about the wonders of RFID tag reading zones!
