Lovely note from our pianist Mark

It has been a while since we had Mark drop by to play the piano at Unley. We were treated to his gentle music on Saturday and left us a couple of origami flowers plus a lovely note which we have placed on the piano.

New Home Service caddy

Yes, it's finally here! Our Home Service van has now been replaced with a white Volkswagen caddy.

Our Home Service volunteers that have been out on a round with the caddy are all in agreement - the new vehicle is much easier to get in and out of and most importantly so much better to drive. Also, no more reaching up to close the back door. It has barn doors which swing open easily plus the sliding doors at either side make it accessible to reach into the vehicle.

It doesn't have any markings on it yet as Ruth is working on the design and layout. So looking forward to when it does come out decked with the new design.

For those of us that were wary of driving the old van, this one drives like a sedan, not like a semi. I encourage you to try it out. So come on over and Marianne or yours truly can give you the keys to give it a spin. I'm sure you'll feel right at home :)

Some pointers
  • The key for the ignition is released by pressing the silver button at the top
  • You need to have your foot on the brake and the gear on Park or Neutral to start the engine
  • Indicators are on the left-hand-side of the wheel while windscreen wipers are on the right

STAR of the day - Thursday Edition!

Image result for star

Hi Team,

It's been SO busy lately and we've been pretty understaffed and I know everyone is feeling the pressure. And because of that I thought it was important to shout out excellent customer service, despite these challenges.

So I'm awarding Marianne Star of the Day!

I witnessed Marianne taking a second to educate a customer about watching the screen when returning items so they can see which trolley the items belong on. The customer had originally placed the items on a white trolley when in fact they were all straight Unley returns for shelving.

The whole point of our big RFID changes were to decrease staff manual handling but I'm sure lots of you will agree when I say it doesn't feel like it's decreased at all. And part of that problem is patrons popping their items in the incorrect location. We may not always catch them but if we do, it's so important to stop and educate. We are constantly showing our customers cool new things in libraries and it's part of our commitment to lifelong learning.

So I just wanted to say thanks to Marianne for being a STAR.
