Hi guys
I was just helping a customer to return a number of DVDs and she was continually getting the 'too many items' red cross error, even though she only had the one item in her hand. We thought it was picking up the ones in her bag, but even as she stood further and further away, the error would not disappear!
Saving her from standing 2 metres away, I took her items from her and further investigated the issue.
Looking at the RFID pad on the mini pod, I noticed it was looking for 2 different barcodes. Weird.
I then discovered that she had the wrong discs in the wrong cases - so each DVD was trying to scan two different barcodes and two different RFID tags! So the machine thought that one DVD was, in fact, two. Mystery solved!
Hopefully this little hint will help someone else if they see this error again.
Cheers
Nicole

Cat 2 - 2 cats
These fields are used for sending statistics to the Grants Commission as part of our annual reporting. We're doing pretty well, as across the consortium only 10% of memberships don't have any data entered in User Cat 2 (Council area) and only 7% don't have data in User Cat 3 (Suburb) but just so you know, this data IS used - you are contributing vital information when you fill these in!
Also don't forget when changing a customer's address to update cats 2 and 3 if required so all info is current. Please.
If the customer is not sure of their council area, please look it up! You can google the suburb, or the LGA have a handy page on their website just for this purpose, which is linked to on our intranet:
http://lga.sa.gov.au/councils - good for those tricky suburbs that straddle 2 councils.
PLS have sent us reports of our customers who are currently missing this info, which the multi-talented Cortesse and I are working through.
Thanks team!

Receipt rolls, kiosks, and EFTPOS machines: what do they have in common?
I discovered something last night that I thought I would share:
If a kiosk has run out of receipt roll, and the customer attempts to pay bills via EFTPOS, they will receive an error saying something like 'printer is unavailable' (I don't remember the exact error message!)
This is obviously to guarantee that the customer will receive a transaction receipt when paying via EFTPOS - what a smart machine!
So, if you see this message, move the customer over to another machine, and/or quickly change the receipt roll, and you are good to go.
Cheers,
Nicole
