Unley Library Beautification - The Nightmare of the Trolley

Hi All,

This is the first time I've actually created a Blog post!

I know we are short on space, especially at the moment in the downstairs workroom for some reason, but I have a tiny bug bear.

In wanting to have our public spaces clear and lovely looking, & in keeping with our ongoing endeavour to beautify our public spaces,  I'm wanting to hear your opinion about our small cream/grey trolleys and where the empty ones live.

I always bring the empty trolley's into the workroom as they look ugly out on the floor and our public spaces aren't a 'storage area'.  There are more than normal being left out on the floor at the moment and I think it's a good time for us all to look at what we want to do with them as a whole.

I love the cream one at the staff pod near the lift and the grey one we have started leaving in front of the pot plant near the public kiosk's but I think that should be about it for empty trolley's.

We could pop spare one's up near the lift if there is no room in the downstairs workroom and I wonder if there is anywhere else we can pop them to alleviate the issue?

What are your thoughts/suggestions?  Perhaps it could be quickly discussed at Monday's BUM under 'any other business'?

Thanks for listening and let's find a solution so the library public spaces aren't turned into a 'car park'.

Cheers!

  1. Totally agree. I prefer to move all but the necessary spare grey trolley off the floor, and even that can live in the workroom if necessary as it only takes a second to grab it from just inside the door when swapping for a full one.

I'm wary of putting too many trolleys near the lift on the ground floor in case we impede traffic.

Random discarded trolleys are definitely not a good look.

    Best wishes,
    Ruth

  2. i agree completely too. that option is working really well @ unley and who doesn't love library beautification?!?
just as an aside on the same subject, i find also to further up the beautification level @ unley that it is beneficial to keep the trolley(s) of holds to be filed at the staff pod end of the holds shelves (by the pot plant). This looks so much better for our customers as it's not great when the first thing they see walking in is a full unfiled trolley. Love the aesthetic wonderment vibe, team!
